Understated Modern Wedding with a Bold Ceremony Design
When Eva told me her favorite color was orange, it sparked the idea that would shape the entire vision for her wedding.
Eva and Jose traveled all the way from New Zealand to celebrate their destination wedding closer to family and friends on the bride’s olive farm in Córdoba, southern Spain. As Eva shared her vision for using different spaces around the house, I began to imagine how we could bring the endless olive groves surrounding the property into the experience. I wandered through the spaces, trying to balance the natural beauty of the area with the rustic charm of the farmhouse.
Of course, the spaces I fell in love with were the furthest from the farmhouse, which meant longer transitions and some significant logistical challenges—things like restrooms, electricity points, and convincing vendors to go along with these major changes. But the real question wasn’t whether it was possible—because everything is always possible—it was about how much Eva and Jose were willing to trust our vision and embrace it.
They did, and what we created was something incredible: a contemporary ceremony setting that seemed like a mirage amidst the olive trees and soft, cloudy skies. We broke the rules of nature by placing a bold, modern set as the backdrop. A long white carpet added a dramatic touch while keeping things relaxed. I love pushing boundaries and believe the best art comes when we let go of the need for everything to make perfect sense. Creativity isn’t about logic; it’s about feeling.
Throughout Eva and Jose’s laid-back celebration, we sprinkled in bold, unexpected details: the gigantic wedding cake, a vibrant display of oranges, all muted with an elegant touch that brought everything together.
Just see for yourself.
