Editorial Wedding In Contemporary Villa Marrakech
Hok and Gina, celebrated their love over three days in Morocco’s cosmopolitan capital city Marrakech.
The venue, designed by Architectural guru Studio KO, didn’t miss a detail. Minimal contemporary design for a luxury escape with an indoor spa, traditional hammam, a 25m swimming pool with views of the Atlas Mountains and luscious gardens creating the ideal oasis-in-a-desert like feel.
The interior areas connect by large open entryways, dramatic staircases or endless corridors that are flooded with light and adorned with shadows. The way in which natural light is played with, the use of local artisanal interior design elements and the close relationship of nature and architecture leaves your mouth hanging open the first time you lay your eyes on Villa D — there is just no place like it.
For creative couple Hok and Gina, it was the ideal venue to host their intimate destination wedding. The celebration started with a welcome gathering in a stylish rooftop restaurant in Marrakech’s vibrant medina, followed by a slow wedding and post wedding recovery brunch at the Villa.
The ceremony took place in the gardens just before sunset, Hok dressed in a traditional Kimono and Gina, read her vows in Japanese, the ceremony was emotional and elegant.
Shades of yellow were used in the florals, stationery and textiles to pop against the earthy desert tones of the natural spaces. The idea was to maintain the elevated aesthetic of the Villa while enhancing the spaces for them to feel intimate and unique, for the bride and groom.
Just as the sun melted into the sand, we seated everyone for dinner, the sky changed colour over and over before turning to darkness and a family style dinner of seasonal Moroccan ingredients were turned into hearty dishes to be shared under the starry sky.
Once the DJ started, everyone was more than ready to dance. Dance moves like no other opened the dancefloor before Gina and Hok wowed their guests with a special dance choreographed by the movement designer and genius himself.
What a wedding to be part of!
