Love, Art, and Quiet Luxury on the island of Menorca
Amid the tranquil beauty of Menorca, a Shanghai couple with a deep connection to art redefined what it means to celebrate love. Their two-day wedding was creative, intimate, and effortlessly elegant, blending quiet luxury with artistic details that felt timeless yet trendy.
When Yanzhi and Mil shared their story—how they met in a Shanghai art gallery—it was clear that artistry would be at the heart of their wedding. But first, we had to find the perfect venue. They were drawn to our work because it reflected their love for nature, horses, and a refined yet alternative style—a perfect foundation for creating their dream wedding.
Menorca felt like an obvious choice. The island, with its architectural wonders, galleries, and artistic vibe, is a magnet for creatives. When we came across Fontenille, a stunning venue perched amid the island’s natural beauty, it immediately felt right. It offered everything Yanzhi and Mil envisioned: a clifftop gathering, a relaxed vineyard dinner, and a wedding that felt elevated but true to them.
As we planned, our connection grew stronger, and I worked in a few surprises I knew the couple would love. These included a live art show by a local artist—a piece they could take back to Shanghai—a personalised tablecloth featuring island-inspired motifs, and those iconic curved tables that echoed a Yin-Yang formation, symbolising their harmony.
The celebration began with a clifftop welcome event, where guests were greeted with a hand-designed sign that nodded to the island’s artistry. This flowed into an intimate vineyard dinner, with a focus on local flavours and natural wines. Everything about this evening was designed to encourage connection, from the pacing of the meal to the golden Mediterranean sunset framing the gathering.
The next day, their ceremony setup featured sculptural elements and chairs that integrated into the natural landscape, symbolising unity. Thoughtful details—like the wine tasting during the cocktail hour and a display of food art—immersed their guests in the island’s culinary delights, creating conversation and a sensorial experience.
Dinner that evening was hosted under a unique lighting installation. With sculptural floral arrangements, textured handcrafted ceramics, and dripping candlelight, the atmosphere radiated warmth and sophistication. The live art show added another layer of depth, as the couple and their guests collaborated with the artist to create something uniquely theirs.
Yanzhi and Mil’s wedding was a reflection of everything they value: connection, creativity, and authenticity. It leaned into quiet luxury—not about excess, but about thoughtfulness and quality. Their story—two people brought together by art, celebrating on an island that inspires it—is a reminder that the best celebrations are those that stay true to the people they’re for. This wasn’t just a wedding; it was a beautiful, living piece of art.
